Total Lunar Eclipse
Last night was a total lunar eclipse. The next one will not be until 2010. When the moon passes into the Earth’s shadow, the moon is illuminated by the diffuse glow of the Earth’s atmosphere. This causes the moon to appear red in color.
The first photograph was taken at 9:07 PM EST and the last at 10:00 PM. The eclipse lasted over 4 hours.
Photographs taken with a Nikon D300 with a 70mm-300mm lens.
